2000 Grand Mayne St Emilion Grand Cru Classe
This is a big wine by any standard. However, it’s surprisingly consisted of 78% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, the high merlot content almost defied the expectation of being a big wine. Surprisingly mild bouquet. The body really stood out with loads of blueberries plus dark chocolate flavors, full bodied and rounded, very atypical of a St Emilion styled wine. It seemed to be a wine that can be kept for decades easily, as it has not reached it’s peak yet. Stash away!
