2018 Monte Real Rioja Reserva De Familia

Made from Tempranillo grapes. The owner is Artacho family who founded Bodegas Riojanas in 1890, is one of the oldest Spanish wineries in Rioja. Wine was aged in American new oak barrels for 30 months, however, the oak profile was on the lighter side and did not stand out prominently from the content. Aroma of floral mingled with spice, a classic bouquet. Content was very traditional and classical style, not much excitement over the content, although the plum and red-berry fruits preceded by a creamy rich palate. This wine is a tad old-fashion in my opinion.
