2019 Haut Batailley Verso Pauillac
This is the second wine of firth growth classification Haut Batailley. As mentioned in my yesterday’s report on Haut Bailly II, 2019 is a great Bordeaux vintage, thus it’s very difficult to produce poor Bordeaux wines this year. This wine is made of primarily 70% cabernet sauvignon and 30% merlot. The expression is very classic Pauillac style, slightly stemish and vegetal due to the greenish cabernet sauvignon. The wine has slightly elevated acidity, although the softness and roundness of merlot tame it down and make the wine more balanced and pleasant.
