Zind Humbrecht

Situated in Turckheim, Haut-Rhin, Alsace, the renowned Domaine Zind-Humbrecht, nestled within the Herrenweg vineyard, is globally recognized as one of the "Alsace greats." With roots dating back to 1620, the Humbrecht family's winemaking tradition took a pivotal turn in 1959 when Léonard Humbrecht and Geneviève Zind united in marriage, prompting a name change to Zind-Humbrecht. Since 2009, their son Olivier has helmed the estate, earning distinction as the first French "master of wine" and gaining acclaim as one of the world's premier winemakers. Pioneering the production of concentrated Alsace wines with a fruity character through low yields, the domaine has long embraced biodynamic principles, obtaining certification in 2002. The estate's expansive 40 hectares of vineyards span 10 distinct terroirs across six communes: Herrenweg (11.5 ha), Clos Windsbuhl (5.15 ha) in Hunawihr, the grand cru of Rangen in Thann (5.5 ha), Rotenberg (1.8 ha), Clos Häuserer (1.2 ha) in Wintzenheim, Hengst in Wintzenheim (1.4 ha), Brand in Turckheim (2.4 ha), Clos Jebsal (1.3 ha), and Heimbourg (4 ha) in Turckheim, and Goldert in Gueberschwihr (0.9 ha). Flourishing on soils with distinct characteristics, these vineyards enhance the unique qualities of the typical Alsace grape varieties. The majority of the plots are strategically located in grand cru areas, reflecting the estate's commitment to producing exceptional wines that showcase the best of Alsace's terroir.
