Wine With Bok - 9.5/10 Stars

BORDEAUX CLONE? A whiff and I already thought this was a Bordeaux wine, almost Grave alike due to the excessive earthy notes, there’s also a very slight hint of green capsicum note, almost implying Cabernet Sauvignon dominated and perhaps even a Pauillac wine. Body was creamy and smooth, almost undetectable tannins, suggested that the tannins has been well integrated into the body of the wine. Would have easily guessed this as a late 70s or early 80s Bordeaux. The finishing was a bit disappointing, although long, the taste did not penetrate the palette and quickly dissipated on the surface of the tongue. Unsurprisingly, this Dominus came from JP Moueix family who owns Petrus and many other Bordeaux vineyards, thus the style of Dominus was definitive Bordeaux as well even with a different terroir. (4/2019)

Robert Parker - 99 points

As for the 1991, 6,500 cases were produced of this potentially perfect wine. While this vintage of Dominus contains no Merlot in the blend, every time I taste it I am reminded of a great vintage of Petrus such as 1982, 1989 or 1990. Although different, the 1991 Dominus possesses extraordinary intensity, remarkable opulence, and amazing fruit extraction, all welded to a full-bodied structure. The wine's sensational purity and inner-core of depth must be tasted to be believed. The 1991 will be approachable young because of its sweet tannin, yet it exhibits the potential to last for 25 years. Perhaps 1994 will rival it, but for now, the 1991 is unquestionably the greatest Dominus, as well as a potential legend in the making. (6/1995)

Stephen Tanzer - 96 points

Very saturated dark red-ruby. Youthful, supercomplex aromas of plum liqueur, currant, brown spices, leather and chocolate, plus an ineffable animal/vegetal/mineral element. Wonderful penetrating sweetness in the mouth; dense, thick, very intensely flavored and pungent. Sharply delineated. Perhaps not quite the sheer size of the '94. Finishes extremely long and focused, with fine tannins and a note of superripeness. (8/1999)
