1999 Chateau La Voulte Gasparets Corbieres Cuvee Romain Pauc - 750ml
The Romain Pauc cuvée from Château La Voulte Gasparets is named after the great grandfather of Mr Reverdy. This high-end cuvée comes from the oldest vines in the area, some of which were planted in 1891 on the terroirs of Corbieres Boutenac (hills of rolled pebbles, facing south). This Romain Pauc presents a pretty dense garnet color with brilliant reflections, the nose is marked by black fruits, spices, leather and chocolate, the round and suave mouth emphasizes the carignan which is given pride of place in this wine. The tannins are fine. It is a must of the Corbières appellation. 50% carignan, 25% grenache, 15% mourvèdre, 10% syrah, Grenache and Carignan: 50 to 115 years; Mourvèdre: less than 25 years old, 12 months aging in barrels, 80% of 1, 2 and 3 wines and 20% new wood.
