Wine With Bok - 9.25/10 Stars
My previous notes on the previous 2019 vintage was spot on, and there’s no amendments to make on my tasting notes. 2020 is vastly different from 2019, in fact it’s so huge that when I drink it blind, I cannot not tell it’s coming from the same plot! I’d say 2019 is with really heavy makeup, with heavy oak play, totally masks the character of Les Vergers; Whereas 2020 is showing its true character, very transparent, lively and refreshing, and most importantly, no heavy makeup. There are some oak play in 2020, but definitely not overdone like 2019. Yearly production of approximately 1,200 bottles, definitely highly recommended to try out the 2020 vintage of Les Vergers, definitely showing Philippe Colin’s winemaking style has reached new peak! I strongly recommend 2020 amongst the two vintages. (11/2022)
Allen Meadows Burghound - 93 Points
Smoky aromas of pear, apple and white flowers are cut with hints of rosemary oil. Once again there is a highly beguiling texture to the sappy and rich middle weight flavors that deliver very fine length on the balanced finale. This does need to develop better depth to merit the upper end of my projected range though it helps that this wine has a fine development track record. *Burghound Outstanding!* (6/2022)
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy - 93 Points
Pale to mid lemon. Interesting complex nose, more depth of fruit here, fresher than Chaumées, less oak effect than Maltroie. Very pleasing through the mid palate, the oak and ripe white fruit providing a little graceful sucrosity to finish, with the acidity just holding the wine in place nicely. (10/2021)
