Coming from the Rhone wine region of France, generally dominated by Grenache for reds and roses, or Grenache blanc for whites. This Le Clos du Caillou has a more exotic blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre and 5% Cinsault. However, the wine is simple despite various blends, although the different variety of grapes do help make the wine easier to drink despite the lack of complexity. Bouquet of bright red fruits, with red cherry dominating the aroma. Content was really pleasant and approachable, easy to drink, absolutely no qualms. I was having some French country cheeses tonight with my wife, and both of us finished the whole bottle without noticing it, it tells you how easy the drink is.
