From robust Côtes-du-Rhône to memorable Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Clos du Caillou wines arguably represent some of the finest values in all of France. Proprietor Sylvie Vacheron and winemaker Bruno Gaspard are keeping the great work of the late Jean-Denis Vacheron alive with wines that are heady, robust and mouth-wateringly lush.
Caillou tends wonderfully old Grenache vines, some of which are 70 to 100 years old. With older Syrah and Mourvèdre added to the mix, it’s no wonder that Caillou wines are across the board impressive for their power, extract and deep minerality. The estate’s Chateauneuf terroir borders the impressive domaines of Chateau Rayas and Beaucastel.
A rosé de pressurage (pressed red grapes), raised organically. This delicate, silky wine offers flavors of red currants, raspberries and orange zest.Wines from Le Clos du Caillou are Rhône blends at their most intense. Grenache, Cinsault and Mourvèdre grapes are hand- harvested then pressed (rosé de pressurage). Fermented on indigenous yeasts in tank. Certified organic.

Wines from Le Clos du Caillou are Rhône blends at their most intense. Concentrated and richly textured, the estate’s organically raised reds capture the spice of older-vine Grenache as grown on the region’s finest terroirs. The estate in Courthézon, in the northeastern part of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, boasts a mix of terroirs with a predominance of sand, which gives wines their silky elegance and finegrained texture. The estate has been practicing biodynamic viticulture since 2003, and was certified organic in 2010. Caillou’s devotion to the character of the land (through bottling wines according to terroir) and its dedication to natural viticulture has only intensified over the years; this is what makes Caillou one of the leading estates in the southern Rhône.
