Wine by Bok - 9.25/10 stars
A wine that invites you into a sensory journey from the very first pour. After a 2-hour decant and 4 hours of slow savoring, the bouquet emerges as a powerful force of nature—intense aromas of dark blueberries, tobacco, leather, and a hint of oak play beautifully together.
The nose is unforgettable, exuding such intensity you can sense it from across the room. Yet, the palate surprises with its tranquil and feminine elegance. Layers of dark cherries unfold with a gentle, down-to-earth charm, leaving a silky, lingering finish. A stunning example of Monbousquet’s balance between power and grace. (01/2025)
Wine Advocate - 95 points
From an unheralded terroir, this Monbousquet was made from extremely low yields of 28-30 hectolitres per hectare. Aged sur lie and bottles unfined and unfiltered, it exemplifies proprietor Perse's enormous efforts. Black and blue to the rim, this wine represents the essence of this terroir. Its saturated black/purple colour is accompanied by extraordinary aromatics of sweet blackberries, chocolate, coffee, incense, new saddle leather and vanilla. Remarkable intensity, lively acidity and abundant tannin provide definition and grip. This is the most intense, muscular and "biggest" Monbousquet made to date and that is saying something considering the 1998 and 1999! So, be prepared, it is a remarkable wine. (4/2003)
