2008 Chateau Clarke - 750ml
Wine By Bok - 9.25/10 stars
I have been tasting a couple of vintages of Chateau Clarke to formulate an opinion on this chateau. As I have said in the past, The winemakers of Lafite Rothschild bought over the vineyard and replanted all the vines, and brought over their winemaking skills since 1973. After tasting some key vintages like 1982, 1985, 1988, 2000 and 2004, I have formulated my opinion that this chateau is actually worth taking a serious buy view. This 2008 is unique in its personality, and the quality has improved leaps and bounds compared to past vintages, I’m sure the expertise of Lafite Rothschild has certainly influenced the outcome. The bouquet was with red fruits with good expression. I do enjoy the content, very engaging, and very balanced fruits with a great integration of oak play. They aged it in oak for over a year, thus the vanilla taste is very prominent. I think it’s a great blend with very good fruits. Great pleasure! (2/2024)

Well balanced, the fruit fresh but ripe. There is an edge of dry tannins which slashes through the fruit, giving a firm, dry aftertaste. (12/2009)
