2011 Monte Zovo Amarone Della Valpolicella DOCG Riserva - 750ml

Wine With Bok - 9.5/10 Stars
As an Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva, it’s required by law to age it for at least 4 years in the cellar before releasing the bottle to the market. Riserva wines are of great standing and prestige as the winemaker must store the riserva wines in their cellar for a much longer period of time. It’s normally hard to swallow young Amarone wines, as they’re usually jumbo in taste and you’ll need a lot of strong flavoured Italian food to tame it down. Fear not, we at Fine Wines SG doesn’t believe in bringing wines that requires further aging, our selection process is let you buy a bottle and to pop and drink it tonight. As such, this new Monte Zovo label fits the bill exactly. It has retained Amarone’s mild bouquet of typical Amarone sun dried grapes, while the content was of utmost friendliness; totally pleasant and rounded with no rough edges, very easy to drink, while retaining a lot of finesse of typical aged Amarone style. Only my last few sips contained more grips of dry tannins, otherwise it was a smooth sailing drinking session. (5/2020)
Falstaff Magazine - 94 Points
Rich ruby with a luminous garnet edge. Very clear and intense nose of ripe raspberries, dried cranberries and fine cloves. Lots of fruit present, fine-meshed tannins, very well integrated, flows calmly. (11/2020)
