2017 Domaine Faiveley Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru "Les Porets St Georges" - 750ml
Domaine Faiveley is one of the largest and most illustrious domaines in Burgundy, and has made its name with red wines made from the Pinot Noir grape. It was founded in 1825 in the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges under Joseph Faiveley, a wine merchant who had a desire for travel. In the beginning of the 19th Century, trade had begun between Burgundy and northern Europe, predominantly along the rivers and canals connecting the regions.
Les Porrets-Saint-Georges is a Premier Cru vineyard in the center of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation of Burgundy. This vineyard lies on the mid-slope of the Côte d'Or where the terroir is well-suited to Pinot Noir, making intense, powerful wines with good aging potential. The vineyard, covering just over 7.3 hectares (18 acres), is one of the larger in Nuits-Saint-Georges, spans across about 500m.
A deep ruby-red color. The nose has black fruit notes and woody, fiery aromas. After a round and full attack, this wine proves powerful and full-bodied. It is well-balanced and of high quality, with good cellaring potential.
