I had a reputable bottle of St Emilion 2016 drinking right next to this bottle (I didn’t want to mention names here), thinking this Bordeaux bottle would easily kick ass; To my shock, my first sip till the last, the Montepulciano kept an upper hand no matter what! The kind of youthful fruit, blackberry and ripe dark cherry notes coming from this Antares was superb, the fruits were bright and very cheerful, and it kept the St Emilion bottle right in the dark! Rich aromas of ripe black fruit with hints of dates and walnuts. Full-bodied with very fine-grained, spicy tannins. Richly spiced, flavorful finish. (9/2020)
