2021 Barossa Bourne Shiraz - 750ml
Deep purple and black hues set the stage for an enticing aroma of dark berry fruits, complemented by a hint of spicy oak. The palate reveals lush notes of plum and blackcurrant, seamlessly integrated with a refined oak structure. The finish is smooth and lingering, leaving a lasting impression.
Barossa Bourne has come about from my complete love for what is arguably, amongst the best wine regions in the world. Wines that speak to a place, a time, the people, the community, the soil, the history, the vineyards, the rolling landscape, the four seasons each year - and the love that goes into growing grapes and making wine. These are the wines I have always chased and now I can show you what it is that makes this region so breathtakingly beautiful. - Stuart "Stuey" Bourne, Winemaker
STUART BOURNE - WINEMAKER
With a long history associated with wine and vines and a family who are grape growers in the renowned Clare Valley, South Australia – Stuart (or Stuey to his mates) is the Senior Winemaker at Soul Growers, one of Barossa’s small premium wineries. Gaining experience at several major wineries in Western Australia, Clare Valley, and Victoria, Bourne was drawn back to his South Australia roots and the Barossa Valley 20 years ago when he became the winemaker at Barossa Valley Estate. In explaining his return to the region Stuart explains “It has some of the oldest vines on the planet and no phylloxera,” Bourne notes, “but it’s not just about the soil, it’s about the 170 years of planting, the history of the area, and the culture.” Bourne’s mastery of Barossa style was recognized by Wine Spectator on several occasions first scoring 97 points and ranking #21 on Wine Spectator’s “Top 100 Wines of The World 2002”, later making the highest-rated Australian wine at #33 on Wine Spectator’s “Top 100 Wines of 2011.” In 2020 Bourne was recognised as ‘Barossa Winemaker of the Year’ by the Barons of Barossa. In 2021 Bourne was invited to become a ‘Baron of Barossa’ for his longstanding contribution to the Barossa wine industry and Barossa community.
