1950 Pietri Geraud Banyuls
RAISINS
This wine was kept in the oak barrel since 1950, and was bottled in 2009. Took great patience for the wine to age gracefully.
Served blind, ultra strong raisins hit the nose immediately, although it also smelled like Portuguese Port, except that it was slightly chemical.
Palate was really port alike, except that the wine was more reduction of port, slightly syrupy. Very sweet, heavy on oak and vanilla taste as well. It went extremely well with our Sichuan dinner tonight by killing some spice!
