DAY 2 INT'L VIVINO CHAPTER
We had 2 blind bottles of this wine, and both same label and same vintage! But they tasted drastically different. First bottle was old, dirty, pungent, soiled and smokey on the nose, while palette was sweet, dirty and very dry. The second bottle was singing, with extreme fragrance on the nose. Very sweet and elegant on the palette. Of course wine this old that went through 6 decades really hard to tell the outcome but I was really pleased to have it drank side by side.
This one must have been a Mohammed Ali’s upper jab compared to 89 sending shiver down spine,totally knocked me out. You will never believe how young this wine is! At 62 years old, if you blind me the 89 and 55, I can almost swear by it that they are produced in the same vintage, perhaps storage problem or bottle variation caused the 1955 to be more matured. Seriously, the 55 is truly amazing, one of the greatest Pomerol I have ever drank, and alongside the 1989, its like original copy, or copy original?
