1959 Chateau Belgrave Haut Medoc
An interesting label that has diminished into nowhere nowadays. But 55 years ago it maybe a different story, or was it? If someone blinded me, I would swear by it that the wine served was a Margaux; loads of violets, quite a fair bit of fragrant flowers, and an obvious touch of dry potpourri. The palette was surprisingly alive, started off with elevated acidity but eventually mellowed down with air to be a lot more balanced. The fruit was good but alas, didn't last through the night.
