1961 Pio Cesare Barbaresco
1961 was a very good vintage for Piedmont although I still prefer Bordeaux 1961 much more. I find that Barbaresco lifespan was much shorter than the sibling Barolo, and my observation was reflected in this bottle.
Funky nose. The content was light, fruits were already fading, very sour. I'll pass on any Barbaresco that's above 40 years old as I find it unable to age very well. Normally by 50 years old they're dragging their feet to keep themselves alive.
