1962 Gaja Barbaresco
62 BARBARESCO ALIVE!
62 was a very good vintage for Piedmont, so when I was called up to witness the opening of this bottle, I rushed over. I never had a Barbaresco that's still alive after so many years, mostly fell off the cliff already, so this was quite an experience! Perhaps it's the magic of Gaja.
Initially it was on borderline madeirized, took almost an hour to blow off the funk to bring up some dry tobacco leaves and eventually sweet lively fruits. It was singing thereafter, great experience!
