1967 Minuto Barolo Riserva Speciale
Served blind, this is an amazing wine not to be overlooked by any wine connoisseur. My initial instinct was veering towards Italian Piedmont area due to the thick juice as it tasted fully matured. However, aged wines were really difficult to be certain. Later, I changed my answer to western coaster American wines as I once had a Ridge Monte Bello 1978 that had almost similar style, as I found the wine full of energy despite its age, and more likely a thick and hardy grape varietal like Cabernet Sauvignon can survive the onslaught of time. When revealed, I can understand why it was Nebbiolo grape based, as that’s another hardy and ultra tannic grape varietal, plus this is a Riserva Speciale, so it really lived up to it’s expectation of one of the best producer from Piedmont.
