1970 Pape Clement Pessac Leognan
POPE WINE
Who says Pope doesn't drink wine? Pape Clement, named after a pope, was one of the oldest estate in Bordeaux since the 13th century, perhaps they've mastered the winemaking skill to perfection, and thus a 46 year old wine was a child play, still full of life. '70 was the best vintage after legendary '61. Nose of typical aged Bordeaux; beefy, copper coin, later turned mushroom and old leather jacket. Body was chunky, beefy, meaty, loads and loads of bold fruits, being backed by lively acidity.
