1970 Trotanoy Pomerol
I hardly rate aged wines so highly but I have to admit this Trotanoy 1970 was really something else beyond a lot of aged wines I’ve ever come across. At 49 years of age, it did not show any sign of fatigue or weakness. This was definitely one of the best Trotanoy vintage I’ve ever drank, with the 82 a remote second while the 98 was way too young to leave a solid impression. The bouquet was really unique; chocolate, strong coco, and later stage minty, quite a deviation from an expected Pomerol. The palette was extraordinary, it’s all about various shades of fruits here, and they’re all on extreme scale; ultra intense, ultra addictive, definite fruit bomb!

Unfortunately this bottle was maderized and I can't give it a fair judge. But this was not my first bottle of Trotanoy 70, from memory, I was really fond of this wine and vintage; deep, intense, powerful, big, bold fruits dominate the palette, never try to show any weakness. I always think this is one of the top 70 Bordeaux; i can only name the 3 greats: Latour, Cheval Blanc Saint Emilion and Palmer. Trotonoy 70 should come in top 3 of the vintage if I can compare it to the rest.
