1971 Giacomo Borgogno Barolo Riserva
1971 was a good Barolo or Barbaresco vintage, if the winemaker couldn't get it right on a great vintage, it shook my confidence of the label. This Borgogno Barolo was one of them that failed to impress me.
Heavily musty nose that I didn't even liked smelling, plus woody character too. Loads and loads of sour cherries dominated the palate, even though the wine was showing young and fresh characters. Thus it was winemaker's poor skill rather than a poor provenance of lousy storage issue.
