1978 Lafleur Petrus Pomerol
Effortless
This vineyard, situation between two famous plots, i.e. Lafleur and Petrus. If you ask me whether it has any resemblance in style compared to these two famous plots, I’d say probably 30% resemblance. Just remember, most Bordeaux wines are blend of various grape varietals, so a change in composition will throw the resemblance totally off. The bouquet is pretty straightforward, ripe red fruits, slightly smoky and many hours later, turned minty. Content was excellent, with totally integrated tannins and balanced alcohol (not excessive), the ripeness and the smoothness of the wine was really at it’s peak, the drink was so effortless that you don’t feel any obstacle, it just flowed down the palette really easily and effortlessly.
