1979 Chateau Gruaud Larose Saint Julien
Served in a double blind tasting of theme 70s wines. I must admit I liked it a lot but not my wine of the night. Gruaud Larose always surprised me when it was aged. Strong tobacco leaves, bell pepper, bretty on the nose. Palette was fantastic: extremely pleasant, very rich and voluptuous wine, relatively dry and slightly diluted. The dilution gave it away as a weak vintage so I won a big bet against a friend who will host the next tasting and sponsor a bottle of 1955 Bordeaux!
