1981 La Lagune Haut Medoc Grand Cru Classe

La Lagune was a really inconsistent label before Caroline Frye took over. My record showed a great 78, 85 and 90, not from the best vintages. While 81, 82 and 86 were disappointing. I can only classify it as an inconsistent label.
This 81 was pleasant and mellow on the nose. But the palate had big problems. Extremely dry, weak fruits, quite sourish, short finishing, obviously on the downhill and nothing much left. Best to avoid this vintage, just stick to my recommended vintages.
