1981 Pape Clement Pessac Leognan
COMING FROM AN AVERAGE VINTAGE...
1981 was mixed in Bordeaux, although I’ve had quite a few surprises from this vintage.... Cheval Blanc Saint Emilion, Gruaud Larose, Ducru Beaucaillou, Pichon Lalande, and now I added Pape Clement. Read my previous post on the 1961 vintage.
The fruits were so ripe and forward, it was first class. Almost at the borderline of drinking a beef stock, the wine was thick and juicy. Very pleasurable, relatively cheap and definitely way above the price you paid for. Highly recommended!
