1982 Chateau Cissac Haut Medoc Cru Bourgeois
I had a really pristine bottle, just by looking at the cork, it’s barely soaked. The fill is all the way up to the neck, rare for a 41 year old bottle. Knowing 82 vintage, I still prefer to decant it just to clear off some funk, and I was not wrong, moderately heavy musty aroma showed up along with matured black fruits. Content was a bit not quite up to my expectation for an 82 vintage bottle, but I have consistently claimed an 82 vintage was only great at the top level, first growth to second growth, all other classified growths had a roller coaster performance. Chateau Cissac was not spared in this aspect, palate was relatively cool, bordering a peppermint taste, with mildly elevated acidity along with a fair bit of unresolved tannins. I think I will have to stop exploring Chateau Cissac from here onwards, as I have tasted quite a few vintages and none of the great vintages I have tasted lived up to my expectation as a Cru Bourgeois.
