1982 Pontet Canet Pauillac
Probably one of the better aged Pontet Canet I’ve ever had apart from 1970, I was quite impressed with the quality of this 5th growth property. Bouquet was smoky and deeply addictive, as if the juice was going to jump out of the glass. Body was surprisingly still young and very lively, dry and still tannic (yeah, after 37 years!), although not perfect as the body was a bit thin, although relatively matured by now. I must declare Pauillac as a super appellation for Bordeaux 1982, as I could recall Lynch Bages, Pichon Lalande, Lafite, Mouton and Latour all performed like a shining stars in this vintage!
