1983 Chateau Leoville Poyferre Saint Julien
GOOD Saint Julien
I wasn't having high expectations on this Poyferre today as I just tasted a Gruaud Larose 83 a couple of weeks ago and was mildly disappointed, so I was about to write off Saint Julien 83 till this one came along. Nose of strong coffee, deeply caffeinated espresso was dominant. Palette was surprisingly pleasant and elegant, with good cedar and red fruits. The wine still have lively tannins lurking around, implying the provenance of the wine was great. I'd enjoy this bottle on a pleasant night.
