1984 Haut Brion Pessac Leognan
Despite a watershed vintage, this Haut Brion absolutely didn't taste like it came from a watershed vintage. Totally amazing, everything I wanted from a decent Haut Brion vintage, I can find it in this 84; good smokey nose, elegance, pleasant, so easy to drink. Looks like it's extremely difficult to find fault with a first growth despite poor vintages. Had similar experiences with Latour & Cheval Blanc Saint Emilion, but not so much of other first growths. Thus Haut Brion ranks highly amongst all first growths.
