1985 Calon Segur Saint Estephe 3rd Growth Grand Cru Classe

It’s really hard to drink a poor wine coming from 1985 Bordeaux vintage, thus if you can grab hold of any classified growth Bordeaux 1985 produced wines, do not hesitate to treat yourself, it’s really difficult to find bad wines produced in 1985. Chateau Calon Segur has been producing wines for centuries, thus it’s a wine that anyone should pay serious attention to. This classic, backward chateau reflects all it’s classic style in this bottle as well. A whiff and the bouquet is oozing out chunky matured Bordeaux aroma, definitely a big wine. A sip and it’s hard not to fall in love with Calon Segur, the kind of maturity and softness is not easily replicable elsewhere, the fruits are powerful and expressive, almost like a thick cup of latte with a hint of espresso, no doubt a solid content. Kindly ignore Parker’s poor scoring of 86, as I’m willing to take a bet on a blind tasting Parker would have scored this wine way above 90.
