1985 Chateau Poujeaux Moulis-en-Medoc Cru Bourgeois
I was surprised by the deeply coloured wine for a wine that’s already 37 years old, I have never tasted this label before, and may have little faith with it, as Cru Bourgeois quality can be of a wild swing from label to label. However, I was always happy to explore non-classified Bordeaux wines as I have tasted many classified wines, enough to claim expertise in classified growth. Bouquet of ripe matured fruits along with slight elevation of acidity. Surprisingly smooth and pleasant on the palate, with deep flavour of a typical aged Bordeaux, I enjoyed the wine throughout the night along with my beef brisket dinner. Now I have no doubt Ch Poujeaux is a respectable Cru Bourgeois even coming from a great vintage of 1985, and aging very well, I will not hesitate to recommend the wines to my readers.
