1985 Mongeard Mugneret Clos De Vougeot Grand Cru
FANTASTIC VINTAGE
For red burgundies, I have got two great vintages that I wholeheartedly recommend; the everything goes right 1978 and fantastic fantasy 1985. 85 was more like a fairytale, always a pleasant surprise for me for most Grand Cru wines.
Never had I come across such a unique nose of strong sweet potatoes. Palate was highly cherry driven fruits, it's almost like eating cherries, very chewy, very juicy. In addition, the wine was really elegant and soft. Mongeard Mugneret was respectable.
