1985 Mongeard Mugneret Nuits St Georges
NO NAME BEAUTY
It doesn't have to be a Premier Cru from Nuits St Georges to shine (there were 41 1er Cru), even grapes coming from around the town was good enough, so long as the winemaker was great along with the vintage. The dry rose petals nose was really seductive and romantic. The content was initially slightly acidic but quickly mellowed down to a classic burgundy style, perhaps more aligned with Mugneret winemaking style. I drank it with mutton soup, the pairing was exceptionally perfect!
