1988 Chateau Climens Barsac 1er Cru
BARSAC BEAUTY
Climens produced in Barsac, has charms by itself amongst the other productions in Barsac. The other notable name in Barsac is Coutet, which is of very different style. Climens at its peak surpassed d'Yquem in finesse and elegance (in the 40s). I liked Climens for its not overly sweet character. 88 is a great vintage, of which Climens inherited most of the Sauternes character of honey, apricots, sweet mellon and creamy, along with distinct elegance. Even paired well with tropical fruits!
