1988 Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru
ROUSSEAU CHAMBERTIN
For Chambertin, there is Rousseau, then there is everybody else. I may have to start to doubt this statement, coz tonight's Gevrey Chambertin dinner, we had an excellent JL Trapet Chambertin 1990, and this one was also narrowly beaten by G. Vachet Rousseau Mazi Chambertin 78. No doubt still a great wine, nose was fairly muted. The palate was good; chewy fruits, mellow, very structured body, bold, with a slight weakness of slightly dirty. I'd say the elegance of the wine was superb.
