1989 Chateau Canon Saint Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classe

Bought over by Chanel in 1994, I suspected one of the decisions to purchase Canon was because Chanel buyer tried this superb vintage, as apart from 82 and 85, I don't recall anything great coming from this vineyard. After a whiff and a sip, I told everyone to put this glass aside for an hour. It tasted a bit rugged and rough, implying insufficient decanting. True enough, it really turned elegant and much rounder after an hour in the glass, and really enjoyable. Almost my wine of the day.
