1989 Chateau L'evangile Pomerol
BIG WINE
L'evangile has been producing very big, bold and rich wines for many vintages. I recall perhaps in the 50s coz the 59 I had was so big and young, it was never ready. The 05 was a fruit bomb. Thus, unsurprisingly the 89 from a hot vintage, L'evangile would have taken advantage of producing a big wine. And yes, a sip confirmed my suspicion; extremely rich content, however it also had a lot of elegance, depth, rounded and multi layers. I was less impressed with the nose, a bit clinical and very rich.
