1989 Louis Latour Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru
VINTAGE OR MAKER?
89 was a great vintage for white burgundy. Louis Latour was an average wine maker. To buy burgundy based upon vintage is not enough, maker is just as important. So what was the outcome?
Beautiful, matured wine that's at the peak of drinking window. Bouquet morphed and evolved from butter to honey to pear. Content was slightly one dimensional and not with layers of complexity, it was still charming with loads of matured but elegant ripe fruits, slight olive oil, so smooth, so good.
