1990 Calera Wine Company Jensen Mt Harlan Pinot Noir
Served double blind, based upon the character, everyone thought it was a red burgundy. But we were miles apart ..... Nose was strong, powerful, extremely opulent and very addictive, very ripe and slightly minty. Powerful acidity and sour cherry dominated my mouth, it benefited from some air and opened up in 20 mins, turned minty and a bit dirty (not the kind of pure good class pinot noir style like La Tache). It was still an eye opener that CA produces such good grade burgundy clone.
