1990 Chateau Grand Pontet Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classe
This was a total surprise for me tonight. It was almost my WOTN until Trotanoy 99 came along. Nose was initially very left bank style, full of vegetal sand tobaccos, but turned coffee and espresso later on. Palette was extremely pleasant, extremely elegant as well. Loads of bright red fruits, high alcoholic content. After a while, it turned very dry and tannic. However I think it can benefit from aging for 2 3 decades without a problem. Extremely undervalued. Grab it if u can find some.
