1990 Mouton Rothschild Pauillac
Parker was kinda right on awarding Mouton Rothschild 1990 a score of 84, although I totally pity Pichon Lalande 90 with a pathetic score of 79, as I think Lalande would have done much better than this Mouton 90.
Ripe fruity nose, with not much of Pauillac character. The palate was where the disaster began, it was probably one of the most diluted and worst Pauillac I've ever had for 1990, even fifth growth wines were better. How can a first growth get it so wrong from a fantastic 5* vintage is beyond me.

The supremely elegant nose displays red fruit aromas with touches of spice. On the palate, a smooth, creamy attack yields powerful, velvet tannins. The roundness is remarkable, giving the wine very attractive length. The finish reveals vanilla and chocolate aromas, with pleasant floral notes.
Even though it was a fantastic Bordeaux vintage, everyone expected the first growth to be singing, it's very unfortunate Mouton Rothschild 90 was crying. The nose was fabulous, one of the best nose for so many vintages of Mouton I hv drank, but the palette was totally disappointing, started off weak, and gets weaker throughout the night, until it just faded and gone.
