1993 Lamy Pillot Le Montrachet Grand Cru
BUTT GOT KICKED
This Montrachet was served right next to the Leeuwin Estate 04 that I just reported, threatening the white burgundy makers. Served blind next to each other, and this top level Montrachet got his butt kicked hard, for sure a wake up call!
Old fashion nose, with some old world charms, slightly over oaked. It was probably the lightest Montrachet I’ve ever had, barely 1 barrel of production a year, it was so light it paled right next to the new world Chardonnay. There’s high sulphur too.
