1994 Rene Rostaing Cote Rotie La Landonne
ALMOST BORDEAUX ALIKE
I was having Peking Duck tonight and thought hard about what to pair it with, so I thought perhaps the earthly character of Cote Rotie may match the duck.
Was shocked at the nose; very ripe fruits and aged/wet tobacco. Palate was almost Bordeaux alike; earthly, wet earth, mellow and very pleasant, very similar to a Pessac Leognan. 94 wasn't a great vintage, but it served it's purpose, blended in with the sweetness of the duck sauce quite well. Rene Rostaing was good at winemaking.
