1995 Jean Louis Chave Hermitage
In a recently held best of Rhone Valley tasting, we featured the best winemakers that Rhone has to offer: Paul Jaboulet, E. Guigal, Chateau Rayas, Domaine du Caillou, Rene Rostaing and of course JL Chave. It was clear as day to most of us that this wine was just on another level.
Powerful. This wine is showing immense character of the terroir of Hermitage that it is easy to fall in love with. Nose of crushed rocks, minerals, dried prunes, spicy pepper and smoke. Palate had juicy dark fruits, spice, chewy tannins and a good mineral finish. Very masculine wine, can definitely age a lot longer!
