1995 Paul Jaboulet Aine Hermitage La Chapelle
Served single blind and I was made to guess the vintage as the label was revealed already. Classic nose of forest floor, meat and dark fruit. The palate was quite energetic and tannins were quite well integrated and resolved already, it felt late 80s to me, so I ruled out 83, 85 and 88 and thought this would be 89, as the quality was quite stunning. I was told I was in the wrong decade, thus I immediately corrected myself and zoom right into 1995 as my experience beyond 1995 wasn’t at such quality level. I really find the feminine elegance with very well integrated tannins and a lack of oak or vanilla very pleasant, the deep dark foresty notes on the palate was very obvious. Happily drink another bottle of this gem!
