1995 Ugolaia Brunello di Montalcino
There isn’t too many age Brunello di Montalcino for me to try out, the only one that I have been very impressed with was Case Basse’ Soldera 1986, other than that, it’s not easy to find age Sangiovese based wines like Brunello di Montalcino, not especially at such price of $150. So I quickly snapped it up and took a bottle to try. Bouquet was an expected BdM style of slight smoke, dark berries. Surprisingly the content was still very young and fresh, with loads of ripe berries, blackcurrant and dark core fruits. It was matured enough without the irritation of tannins, with decent length and complexity. For some strange reason, my bottle was filled with tremendous amount of sediments, and I do not have any convincing answer for it.
