1996 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili Riserva Falletto
OFF OR REDUCTION?
Had this served on a 96 themed dinner. Nose of undergrowth and wet tobacco leaves. Palate of sour plum and unpleasantness.
On the table, someone claimed that this was the style of the wine due to reduction (like how they reduced aged vinegar?), I argued that this was clearly an off bottle, perhaps bad storage or oxidized. Really stupid to pay so much for unpleasantness.
I don't have as much experience on this label as Bordeaux, so I really am puzzled. Can someone give me some ideas?
